Seven Thousand European Fans Go Wild for K-pop Concert

The Korean wave called “hallyu” is sweeping over the Europe. Seven thousand European fans packed into the concert hall to watch the K-pop stars in Paris on Saturday. The five popular k-pop groups performed that Girls’ Generation, SHINee, Super Junior, f(x), and TVXQ. KBS world reported, “Hallyu fans sang along to the Korean pop songs and cheered wildly for the dance moves on stage. “

This news is very surprising. I already knew that k-pop is popular in many Asian countries, but I didn't know that even European country would do that. I think it is development of information technology (IT) that people can listen to foreign music and watch their performances everywhere through Youtube or other SNS, access is easier and faster. I hope that if I would go overseas travel and have a chance to talk with foreigner, they already knew about Korea from this accomplish of k-pop stars, not response “Korea? Where is Korea?”.

Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele

Gustav Klimt

Egon Schiele

These days, after transferred from Psychology to Art, I’m more interested in drawing. So, I have enthusiasm for drawing and practices every day. I’m spending time to search some drawings of well-known artists, and Gustav Klimt’s and Egon Schiele’s drawing is most impressive. Gustav Klimt who is well-known for his major work ‘Kiss’ and ‘Judith’ left many impressive drawing besides his colorful art works. Egon Schiele is well known for unique style of body drawing

.
Schiele and Klimt both belong to Vienna secessionists that is a trend of art at Austria in 1897. They are typical artist of Vienna secessionists that is art nouveau style and expressed in eroticism. Schiele was affected from Klimt’s art because he was Klimt’s disciples. They portrayed into their art work with non-rational madness of sex. Both drew human’s naked body using very (nervously) thin lines.

In early phase, their drawing style is similar each other, but these were changed gradually. Klimt’s used more splendid color and is decorative. He drew in gold and silver, used abstract and decorative patterns in background of art works. Also his art work is feminine usually. On the other hand, Schiele’s line is more masculine, and he used powerful and rough coloring style. Viewed from the side of subject, Schiele cognized sex is unwholesome and non-rational, so he express sex meaninglessly and vainly.

Seoul vs Tokyo !

Many people say that there is almost no difference between Seoul the capital of Korea and Tokyo the capital of Japan. Both are cities of Asian country, many skyscrapers, complicated roads and overflowing cars, the brilliant light of neon signs and the streets overflowing with the crowds, when we think of these things both cities are really similar. However, people can notice several striking differences after travel to two cities.
In Seoul, driver's seat is left side and traffic keeps to the right, on the other hand, driver’s seat is right side and traffic keeps to the left. Since I live in Seoul, I unaccustomed to the traffic system so that when I traveled Tokyo, I rode wrong bus going to the opposite direction in many times.
Almost people see the many red lighting cross at night in Seoul, there are so many churches, but Tokyo has many shrines for holding a memorial service for their gods. There is almost no church in Tokyo.
In the street of Seoul, people can see many pigeons wander around everywhere. Unpleasantly many pigeons are in public streets and parks. However, in Tokyo, there are many crows as much as pigeons in Seoul. Because Japanese think crow is the bird of good luck, while Korean regard to crow is the bird of bad luck.
Tokyo is attracting travel site, but I love Seoul, Seoul is the best livable city to me.

Children have to play sports only for fun; they shoul not play sports in competition or in contests.

Some people might say that a good competition is the power of improvement for individual, and therefore teaching how to make a good competition for children is very important. However, when we think of children’s mental stress and physical development, they should not play sports in competition or in contests.
First, playing sports is commended to children as the way of reducing stress. These days, many children are more stressed out due to the heavy burden of having stress and competition among peers. They are having a hard time in school. The moment that they can laugh and feel happy is when they kick the ball and run on the playground. They can ease the stress by running, laughing, and sweating healthy with their friends. However, if they play sports in competition or in contests, they will be pressed by another stress. They have been already exhausted because of the competition of classwork. Let’s take my friend’s little brother’s case for example. He is 10 years old and the captain of soccer club. He was preparing both mid term and the soccer match with other school. However, as a result, his hair fell out due to the stress of preparing both at the same time.
Second, when it comes to the children’s physical development, they should not play sports in competition. In a sense, it is true that competition can motivate children to exercise hard and teach the pleasure of the first prize. However, it could make them to do exercise extremely hard, and excessive physical activities can be the cause of incomplete development or serious injury. Many research of the development of child claim that doing too much exercise at the age of 6 to 12 is harmful for the advancement of child’s muscles, and even it can be impediment of the growth of height. Therefore, competition in sports is not beneficial for children, and it is good for them only when they do exercise in a proper level.

Somebody screams right by my side!!!!

In all my born days, I’ve never experienced more fearful thing than the night. When I was a high school senior, I couldn’t sleep at almost every night because of the burden of study and stress. I used to have paralyzing nightmare, it calls in Korean “Gah-We”.
One night, I felt indelible panic. I was sleeping after finished study, I was overwhelmed by something freaky strength again. But it was heavier than any other nights, I couldn’t breathe and move. I rapidly shut my eyes tight, because someone said that people can see a ghost when terrible night-hog comes. I was struggling to break away this horrible feeling, then suddenly I heard dreadful scream, a man’s screaming was continuously replayed. I was filled with horror, my back was getting wet in cold sweat. While I was through night-hog, I made desperate efforts to move my fingers and toes. Finally, I could breathe and move my body freely.
These days, I sometimes have this nightmare, when I’m extremely tired. But I’ve never heard the terrible sound again. It was really fearful that it gives me goose bumps just to think about it.

Restfulness from Unfamiliarity.

I want to talk about my favorite café. When I stroll at leisure toward Sang-su dong through streets swarmed with people in Hong-Dae of Seoul, a quiet residential area appears where are little visitor’s steps. The unusual café –YRI CAFÉ- is located at the ordinary street. Just as soon as open the door slowly, an odd song sounds through the thick cigarette smoke like a fog. Passing over the creaked wooden floorboard, I seat at a blackish cracked chair and listen clam mysterious music. Then I feel wired like Im in a different space time that completely out of boring regular ordinary life. In the café, because there are guitar player, people who drawing or writing something, I deluded I’m in the artist’s safe house. Furthermore, there are various artistic books, from worn old books to hot newest design magazines prepared for people in the café. Whenever I’m in the café, I have relaxedness like I rest in a shadow of old tree and extraordinary freedom.
